A tragic accident claimed the life of a young girl believed to be about 15 years old on Saturday afternoon at the Muslim Under Bridge area along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan.
The incident happened while the teenager was attempting to cross the expressway from one side of the bridge to the other. A vehicle, reported to be moving at high speed, knocked her down and the driver immediately fled without stopping to offer help.
At the time of this report, the girl’s identity has not been confirmed. Her remains were still lying by the roadside as residents and passersby gathered around in shock. Many of them described the scene as heartbreaking, noting that she appeared to be a student in secondary school.
Locals in the area explained that no relative or guardian had arrived to claim the body since the incident occurred. Attempts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, for official comments were unsuccessful as calls to his phone were not answered.
