Group Knocks Buhari Over National Broadcast

A group known as the United Movement for New Nigeria has knocked President Buhari over his national broadcast which he made earlier today, saying that the broadcast was hollow and a national embarrassment.

In a press release by its spokesman, Prince MacDonald Enwere, on Thursday, the group said the President’s broadcast was an insult to the collective sensibility of Nigerians.

He said: “Such an illogical, disjointed and substantially hollow speech from President Buhari is an insult to the collective sensibility of all Nigerians. Mr President’s speech lacks hope, direction, point and solution to the basic and fundamental issues on ground. His platitudinous and provincial submission is nothing but a national tragedy and mockery to the Nigerian nation.

“At the heat of the rising protest and heated demonstration when the President was mostly needed to intervene and address the nation, he blatantly refused and maintained an unhealthy taciturn. Rather he ordered the massacre of innocent Nigerian youths at Lekki toll gate. It is very unfortunate that Mr President can only find it worthy to address Nigerians after much pressure was mounted on him by some World leaders. Even with the lifeless bodies of innocent Nigerian citizens littered all over the streets of the country, Mr President never find it necessary to at least sympathize and condole the families of those that lost their loved ones in the peaceful protest. This shows that the President has lost touch with reality”.

President Buhari had during the broadcast reiterated his commitment to national unity, even as he said that he will not anybody to disrupt the peace in the country.

“This government respects and will continue to respect all the democratic rights and civil liberties of the people, but it will not allow anybody or groups to disrupt the peace of our nation” he said.
