It is a lifetime privilege for me to be used by God Almighty to serve as a tool for restoring the already diminished Hopes of an Orphan, Elvis Obhio. The Eleven (11) years Old lost his parents at a very tender age. Since the demise of Elvis’s parents the tasking responsibility of catering for Elvis’s necessities of life rest squarely on the shoulder of his aging grandmother, whose means of survival depends solely on collecting vegetables from the farm and selling in the market. Being an orphan deprived Elvis the privilege of enjoying most dividends of livelihood like every other growing kids in his neighborhood at Gowon Estate, Egbeda Lagos.
Like every other kids, Elvis so much loves going to school. He aspire to be a great person in life as it is the dreams of every other growing kids. But unlike other kids around who were privilege enough to have surviving parents at their services to meet every of their needs, Elvis’s dream of being educated is at the verge of collapse. The inability of his aging grandmother to regularly raise Elvis’s tuition fees registered the poor orphan’s name at the top of the debt list of Vifadom Nursery and Primary School. Elvis’s school uniform is not anything different from a piece of clothe rescue from the mouth of a Dog. To say the least, Elvis dream of being educated stuck as the poor lad could not even afford learning materials meant for Basic Six pupils, how much more of affording the astronomical fees for Common Entrance Examination, which he is qualified to take anytime soon.
This pathetic condition which Elvis find himself spur me to advocate on his behalf. In a short but compact words, I narrated the poor orphan’s ordeals on the Facebook page of Salamotu Dosumu Foundation, a Lagos based prestigious and famous NGO based. The prestigious organization which was founded by a selfless philanthropist, Alhajat Mrs Shakirat Idowu, is well known across the nooks and crannies of Lagos and beyond, for its uncommon humanitarian services, especially among the less privilege. A fortune changing organization independently aiding in cutting back the rising poverty level among the less privileged.
The narration caught the attention of Alhaja Shakirat Idowu, the conscientious CEO and Founder of the Organization. She immediately pledged to gift Elvis with a brand new expensive school bag which was on the organization’s page last week Wednesday. Out of her generosity the benevolent, selfless and industrious CEO went extra mile and pledged to gift Elvis a brand new shoe. As if that was not enough, Alhaja Shakirat Idowu took it upon herself to put an end to Elvis’s challenges. She immediately reposted the narration on her personal Facebook page.
The reposted narration also caught the attentions of many on her page, including famous Philanthropist and cheerful giver, Prince Idris Balogun Alias Oluomo Kafata. The man Oluomo Kafata is famous for his philosophy which is largely driven by the eternal and uncompromising dedication to the doctrine of generous welfarism. Honorable Oluomo Kafata immediately pledged to not just assist Elvis in pursuing his Education but also ever ready to financially assist Elvis’s aging grandmother.
Maybe in my next world, but as far as today is concern I haven’t in my entire lifetime meet a selfless woman that will equal Alhaja Shakirat Idowu, the compassionate Founder of Salamotu Dosumu Foundation. She sacrifice her comfort just to better the living conditions of the less privileged. Despite her tight schedules and public engagements Alhaja Shakirat Idowu visited Vifadom Nursery and Primary School to redeem her pledge to Elvis yesterday. The entire pupils, staff and management of the school gave her a warm reception. She tour around the school from one class to the other, giving every child cheerful day. Alhaja Shakirat Idowu encourage the pupils to work hard and attain excellent results. She task the pupils by pledging to reward pupils with exceptional results in the forthcoming examination. In her remark Alhaja Shakirat emotionally narrated her gloomy life experience while growing up as a kid. Indeed the road to stardom is not paved with roses. Her blood boil in righteous anger as she emotionally broke down while sharing her experience with the pupils. She encourage pupils to be good ambassadors of Nigeria by loving and caring for others.
Alhaja Shakirat Idowu did not only redeem her pledge to Elvis with brand new school bag and shoe, she equally went beyond her promise and surprise Elvis with #10,000 to take home for his aging grandmother. The rest of the pupils were equally gifted a huge sum to share. Regardless of tribal or religion affiliation being part of a struggle that change the ugly narration of Elvis Obhio is worth thanking God. Humanity first before tribe and religion. As Alhaja Shakirat Idowu often says, “He who will help you will not stress you”.
