Zuwedu Sanni elected IODU National President

…Unveils four-point agenda

OKPELLA- The Iddo-Okpella Development Union, IODU has elected new national officers with the emergence of Zuwedu Oseni Sanni as the national president.

Sanni, a Master Degree holder and Fellow of Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, while thanking the immediate past national executive council for its selfless service to the Iddo-Okpella community, pledged the readiness of his team to consolidate on the achievements already recorded while promising to take the union to new heights.

In his acceptance speech, the new national president said: “We humbly accept with humility the unanimous election into the National Executive Council of Iddo Okpella Development Union. As the National President, I am humbled, flattered, deeply touched, honoured and encouraged with boundless gratitude for this leadership trust reposed in us by the Iddo Community. As a team, we pledge an undiluted resolve to respect this trust”

“We would like to thank the patrons, members of Iddo Council of Village Heads, the immediate Past National President of the Union and Chairman, Board of Trutees, Godwin Luck Umoru PhD, for graciously piloting the affairs of the union to this day”

“We sincerely look forward to supporting and continuing with the good works he has started, as he has diligently and deliberately steered the affairs of the union on the paths of growth and transformation over the years”

“We would also like to express our deep respect and admiration to the able, dedicated and courageous members, stakeholders and past executives at all levels who have been contributing most often in the face of dangers, insults and personal sacrifices, without forgetting all Iddo sons and daughters, home and in Diaspora for their unsung roles”

“To you all, we crave for your utmost continuous support, dedication and solidarity to lift Iddo community to the next level under this regime and beyond”

Sanni, while noting that existing programmes would be sustained, said his administration will focus on the quartet of community security, youth orientation, completion and commissioning of the Iddo-Okpella Community Town Hall as well as building bridges of unity across sundry communities across Okpella Clan.

He continued: “As part of our cardinal programs, we will work with all the agents of social change to create or influence changes in behaviors of our youths for a better society.

“We are a community with norms and values that are to be respected. We hope to work towards guidance and counselling on skill acquisition in Information and Communication Technology, ICT, phones and computer repairs, modern agricultural practices such as Poultry, fisheries, horticulture, and other areas like shoe-making, fashion designs, beads-making, etc, to make life meaningful for the teeming youths of the community”

Also elected into IODU new executive council are Ernest Shuaibu (Vice President), Abdulmatin Jibril (Secretary General), Jafaru Usman (Financial Secretary) and Yahaya Idris (Treasurer).

Others include Felix Aronokhale (Public Relations Officer), Muhammad Momodu (Provost), Braimoh Isa (Provost) and team of Legal Advisers led by Dr. GL Umoru.

The council is expected to serve a single term of six years.
