Lagos APC Denies Bribe For Membership Registration/Revalidation Allegation

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Committee for the ongoing Membership Registration/Revalidation exercise in Lagos State has denied media report that it was inducing party members and non party members with money to come out and Revalidate/Register.

A statement by the Secretary of APC Revalidation/Revalidation Committee in the state, Chief Anthony Ogah described the report as perpostrous, reckless and malicious. Chief Ogah explained that, within the first five days of the exercise, the Committee had ran out of been materials because of massive turnout.

“We are partners in progress. There is no need for inaccurate reports or mis-representation as the party Secretariat can be reached for clarification.

“There is nothing like inducement, rather we are surprised at the overwhelming show of love and acceptance for the party in Lagos. Women and men closed their shops to come and lineup to Register/Revalidate. So, why do we need to induce anyone to come out and Register/Revalidate?

“Don’t forget, APC is the ruling party in the state, and has surpassed the expectations of Lagosians, in terms of the delivery of dividend of democracy. In fact, Lagos State is a testament to the goodness of democracy. Why do we need to induce members with money? the APC chieftain queried.

He described as unethical, a style of journalism where a Reporter will just rely on beer palour or road side gossip to file report, instead of carrying out due diligence by reaching out to the state party Secretariat to hear their own side of the story.

Chief Anthony Ogah dismissed another claim in the report that materials were been hoarded. He explained that “Yes, because of massive turnout of people, the Committee encountered shortage of materials. That has since been sorted out.”

He urged the party stakeholders and well meaning Nigerians to disregard the report, assuring that the exercise is going on as smooth and transparent as possible.

It would be recalled that SaharaReporter on Monday published a report, which claimed that card carrying members of APC around Abule Egba and Meiran areas of Lagos have been begged and induced with money to lure them to register with the party or Revalidate their membership.

  1. I personally participated in the revalidation to register my self. I did not witness any inducement as claimed and did not hear of any one given money or substance. There was no ink pad and Stapler as at the early stage but were brought later in the afternoon when tomb print was carried out.
