Nigeria’s Media Mogul, Mo Abudu, Launches A Creative Academy

Foremost Nigerian media mogul, Mo Abudu has launched a creative academy was done in partnership with the Lagos state government. Over the years, she has been one of the forefronts of taking Nigeria’s media and Nollywood to the global stage.

In her Instagram post, “as a Human resources practitioner, I have been and will always be a firm believer in training and development. So, wanting to create a Creative Academy has been my wish and a personal desire for as long as I have been in this industry. To be counted among the best content producers in the world, training and development is key. To truly make Lagos a destination for media and entertainment, a trained workforce in our industry is critical.’’

It is noteworthy to mention that Mo Abudu started Ebony Life TV which is a network airing in more than 49 countries across Africa, as well as in the UK and the Caribbean to a pan-African audience. Over the years, she has delved immensely into the Nigerian Movie Industry, Nollywood. She is a firm believer in Africans telling their own stories themselves.

The movies she has produced had been among the highest gross earning movies in Nigeria which include Fifty, Wedding Party, Oloture and others. Ebony life has collaborated with Sony Pictures, Netflix and other notable companies in bringing Nollywood to a global stage.

The Creative Academy came in response to the never-ending expansion of Nollywood which however has also resulted into a growing shortage of industry professionals. In her own words, ‘’We have so much talent in Nigeria and our people are ready to work. Unfortunately, very little training is available locally and most people cannot afford to go abroad for training. Ebonylife Creative Academy is meant to fill that gap and make world-class training available.”
