SIXTEEN doctors have died in the last three months, majority of them due to COVID-19, compared to the three who passed on over the same period last year.
Zambia Medical Association president Samson Chisele said in an interview yesterday that it is unfortunate that the country has continued to lose people who should be helping to fight the virus.
Dr Chisele commended Government for approving the deployment of coronavirus vaccines that will help save lives.
On Wednesday, Cabinet approved the financing, acquisition and deployment of coronavirus vaccines.
About four million of the 8.4 million Zambians above the age of 18 are targeted to be jabbed with Johnson and Johnson or AstraZeneca vaccines.
Dr Chisele said Zambians should not believe myths surrounding the vaccines because they are the most effective means of reducing further spread of coronavirus.
