The Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International and Gambians Abroad Dr. Mamadou Tangara has applauded Sierra Leone for building the human resource base of The Gambia.
The Minister made this applause Wednesday 14th July 2021 at his office in Banjul during the signing of the General framework of Cooperation Agreement for the Establishment of a joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone and The Government of the Republic of The Gambia.
Dr Tangara said many Gambians in senior administrative positions acquired their university education in Sierra Leone.
He stated that during the colonial era, majority of Gambians went to Sierra Leone to acquire education and most of those people are today running the affairs of state in the Gambia. He noted that Sierra Leone has been very instrumental to the growth of The Gambians.
“Building the human resources of any nation is key to the development of that nation and hence I thank the Government and people of Sierra Leone for the show of love”. He said.
Dr.Tangara further went on to state that it was key that the relationship between the two countries is revered by both people of the two countries and have nurtured sister and brother relationship that has grown from strength to strength.
The Gambian Foreign Minister noted that the General framework of Cooperation Agreement for the Establishment of joint Commission between the two countries is desirous to strengthen ties of friendship and understanding and further promote economic and technical cooperation guided by the principle of mutual respect for each others national sovereignty and independence.
The General framework of Cooperation Agreement was signed by The Gambian Foreign Minister Dr Mamadou Tangara and the Sierra Leone Internal Affairs Minister Hon.David Panda Noah respectively.
