When the breaking news filtered that armed bandits (terrorists) invaded the Nigerian Army fortress known as the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and killed some soldiers, kidnapped some for ransom payment and to add salt to injury, none of the invaders was captured and or sustained injury; they left untraced celebrating their triumph. I thought that the Nigerian fake news manufacturers have gone madder than the Taliban forces.
Remember that the Taliban forces were at the gate of Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan on Sunday, August 18th, 2021 within a twinkle of an eye and without any resistance offered by the over 350,000 well trained and lavishly equipped US-led coalition of Western European armies/NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Afghan armed forces and security services.
The audacious invasion of the NDA by what is now known as “unknown gunmen” lingo is not only a great surprise and national shame but an international embrassment similar to what the United States of America (USA) and it’s NATO coalition alias/partners are facing over the laughable situation in Afghanistan at the moment.
As it is been reported that the terrorists have made a demand for N200m ransom for them to release the kidnapped Major Stephen Datong, this shows that the terrorists are not the regular rag tag unsophisticated rural brats. They may be residing in the forest but their ability and capacity to launch this type of Kamikaze offensive on the elite Nigerian military establishment is beyond the ordinary. It can only be compared to what the Taliban did to the Afghan armed forces and their US-led NATO coalition backers some days ago.
The entire world is now watching to see how the concerned authorities are going to deal with this very sad and challenging situation. It means that the Nigerian terrorists are yet to be given the dose prescribed by President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB): “The language they understand.”
Hence, it is hightime that the Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and other heads of the nation’s national security establishments swang into action to save the nation from this great shame and embrassment.
In the last national security meeting called and chaired by PMB he made it known in unmistakable term that enough is enough and that he is ready and willing to sack anyone of the Service Chiefs or head of any national security establishment that is found to be incompetent. Let this incident not be the one to serve as the litmus test of that vow. Ameen.
It is expected that all the security and intelligence services would not only put their hands on deck, but to work in synergy in order to smoke out these daring terrorists using “the language they understand” and “send them to God to answer for their crimes.” 🙏🙏🙏
