Eighteen of the 20 Students and staff of Zamfara state college of agriculture and anal health, Bakura recently abducted by bandits have been released.
It was gathered that, two of the victims, a lecturer, Malan Mansur and one student Luqman Musbahu were killed at the bandits den.
Receiving the freed students and staff who were abducted on the 15th of August, at the Government House, Gusau, Governor Bello Matawalle said the released of the victims were secured through peace dialogue.
“We want approximate the effort of the peace and dialogue committee with the support of those who accepted the state government peace initiative”, he added.
Governor Matawalle maintained the commitment of the state government to adopt all necessary measures to end banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
He said already, the of federal government has responded positively by sending special forces for rapid response to the act of banditry in the communities.
Matawalle however, charged security gents saddle with the responsibility to be focus and committed to the fight against banditry.
He also, enjoined people to extend all necessary support and cooperation to the security agent by releasing necessary information on the informants and movement of the bandits.
One of the rescued victims while thanking the state government for negotiating their release, urged the state government to block the movement of drugs and alcohol to the bandits.
According to him, alcohol and drugs influence the actions of the bandits, especially, in the killing of the kidnapped victims at their den.
The rescued victims were directed to go for medical check up before being handed over to their families.
