Hisbah Director Aliyu kibiya has reacted to allegations that the morality police are harassing and prosecuting poor Muslims while playing down the offences committed by politicians and other powerful public figures.
Speaking in an interview with Freedom Radio, Dr. Kibiya said it’s against Islamic culture to be criticising the faults of leaders in public or at the mosques.
According to him, when leaders do wrong, they should be approached privately and rebuked for their faults instead of humiliating them in public.
He said dealing with ordinary citizens and leaders in the enforcement of moral standards requires different approaches.
