It was pandemonium galore at Nyanya, the east-end suburb of Abuja, the headquarters of the Nigerian federation on Saturday afternoon when men of the country’s Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly stormed the area to arrest suspected bandits.
A report obtained by The SUMMIT said the DSS men broke into a cluster of market traders near Nyanya bridge at about 3.30 pm in two unmarked white Hilux trucks with their faces covered with masks.
While wielding sophisticated weapons, they went straight into crowd, picked two persons and began firing gunshots in the air.
According to the report, the operation lasted for about 20 minutes as the crowd dispersed and ran in different directions. The arrested persons were shoved into the waiting trucks and taken away.
Sources said the two arrested persons were suspected bandits from Katsina State.
