APC Chieftan Hails Buni On LEADERSHIP Award

Pa Nmasinobi, Umuahia

National Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee(CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni has been congratulated for the award of 2021 “Politician of the Year” by LEADERSHIP Media Group Ltd.

Hon Obilor Ogbonna, a leader of the party in Abia State stated this when he spoke to THE SUMMIT in Umuahia, the capital following the award last week, describing it as an honour well deserved by Buni, who is the governor of Yobe State.

His words, “This wonderful recognition by one of the country’s leading media houses is a positive testament to the genuine and emulable leadership and bridge building capability he has continued to demonstrate in steering the party.”

“Yes, His Excellency, Governor Buni has proved that he is not only an austitue politician, but has also been able to combine both offices which have yeilded tremendous results for both the party and the state.”

Speaking on the ward and local government congresses of the party in the state, Ogbonna said it was unfortunate that candidates who lost in the exercise and their supporters have been misleading other members of the party and the general public about their outcome.

“It is an open secret that the excercises were conducted successfully by the Congresses Committees which were led by Hon Israel Goli, the member representing Nembe/Brass federal constituency of Bayelsa State in the House of Representatives.”

He said as mandatory, on their arrival for both excercises, the committees took out time to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Department of State Service (DSS),and the Police to intimate them of their mission.

Ogbonna, therefore, appealed to those who, he said are either pretending not to be aware of the visits or are lying to their supporters to excuse themselves from their defeats to visit those offices to ascertain the true position of things from them.

“Let me use this forum to say that I am surprised by a recent comment attributed to an elder statesman and a member of the party in the state, Prince Benedict Apugu that it was him that registered High Chief Ikechi Emenike in the party.”

“I make bold to say that nothing can be farther from the truth than this. In the first place Emenike is a founding member of the party and could not have been registered by a later entrant, who is yet to convince even his immediate family members to join the party.”

According to him, rather than making unfounded statements that could cause unecessary friction in the party, the members should come together to speak with one voice and back the leadership of Emenike to move it forward.

“God has blessed the party in the state with Emenike at such a time when it is in dire need of committed leadership that is poised to ultimately guide it out of the dark throes of its developmental and economic dystopia.
