Minister of Power Engr Abubakar D. Aliyu has said the 40MW Dadinkowa Power project in Gombe State would soon receive federal government (FG)’s intervention towards the completion of the project.
This was contained in a statement signed by the deputy director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Mr Austin Asoluka.
The Dadinkowa Power Project was initiated in the 1959, a year before Nigeria’s independence, to add 40 MW of power to the Nigerian national grid, and ever since then it has been one story to another, just like its other contemporary national projects that were neglected over the years by successive governments.
Aliyu said he would study relevant papers pertaining to the power projects and make appropriate recommendations for the completion of the project.
He stated this on Monday, 13th September, 2021 when the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, paid him a courtesy visit, in his office at the headquarters of the ministry in Abuja.
The Minister, who appreciated the Governor for taking his time off to see
him, and congratulate him on his elevation from Minister of State to substantive Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
described the visit as brotherly and friendly.
Engr Aliyu assumed office last week following his redeployment from the Ministry of Works and Housing as Minister of State to the Ministry of Power as substantive Minister.
On his part, the Governor said he was in Abuja to congratulate his brother and friend Engr Aliyu on his new appointment as a Minister of Power, adding that it was an opportunity to brief the Minister on the position or state of the 40MW Dadinkowa Power project and other hydropower projects in Gombe State that needed FG’s urgent intervention.
