Mid-autumn festival is an annual Chinese traditional festival, Sept 21 will witness the arrival of 2021 Mid-autumn festival. China Cultural Center in Nigeria (CCCN) now launches a series of online programs to celebrate the festival from today to September 28. It goes virtually with wonderful online activities and provides an amazing opportunity for netizen to experience unique Chinese culture.
Nowadays the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration has already become very popular worldwide. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, which is in September or early October in the Gregorian calendar. The Festival is the second most important festival in China just after Chinese Spring Festival. Common customs on that day include family members eating dinner together, sharing mooncakes, worshiping the moon with gifts, displaying lanterns and some other regional activities like Tidal Bore Watching.
Since its establishment in 2013 at Abuja, CCCN has become an informative, educative , entertaining platform used to enhance cultural and tourism exchange between China and Nigeria. From then on,“Chinese New Year Temple Fair”，“World Taichi Day”， “China Cultural Week”, “ ‘China in My Eyes’ Photo Contest” and many other interesting cultural events were presented by CCCN. Ever since February 2020, CCCN had been organizing many online programs such as “Visiting China Online”，“Experiencing Beautiful China”，“Awarding Ceremony for China-Africa TV Contest ” etc…
The highlight of this Mid-Autumn Festival celebration lies in Heilongjiang part. Through working with Department of Culture and Tourism of Heilongjiang Province, CCCN will launch several interesting programs including a beautiful song like “Waiting For You in Heilongjiang”, an online lecture about “Heilongjiang Culture On the Belt and Road” and several videos on beautiful scenery of the Province.
Heilongjiang province is located at China’s northernmost point. The Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains are covered by an ocean of trees. The Heilongjiang River waters two vast alluvial plains, helping to make the province “China’s largest granary.”
