
Qatar airways made its maiden flight from Doha to the Port Harcourt International Airport on Thursday.
The airplane, QR 1433, (Boeing 787-8) Dreamliner arrived at exactly 11:18 am, at the international wing of the airport.
On ground to receive the plane was Rivers State Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, who represented Governor Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during its inaugural flight, Qatar Airways’ vice president, Hendrik du Preez, said.
“Port Harcourt is an important economic hub for Nigeria. We hope these flights, linking it to the world’s financial and petrochemical capitals will contribute to its ongoing success and pave the way for future growth. We anticipate good reciprocal demand between Port Harcourt and destinations in the USA and UK.”
Rivers State deputy Governor said the arrival of Qatar Airways will enhance development, boost the economy of Nigeria and attract foreign investment to Rivers State.
