The Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health has reiterated the federal government’s commitments towards Strengthening health security and health delivery to achieve the SDGs and universal health coverage in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director Media and Public Relation, Federal Ministry of Health Mr. Ahmadu Chindaya said the Hon Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Emmanuel Ehanire made this known during his presentation at the 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland that Nigeria endorses “Health for peace and peace for Health”, theme for this year’s Assembly.
According to the Minister “we are also increasingly recognising the strong role a vibrant primary Health care system can play in achieving objectives of the public Health security “
Dr. Ehanire noted that this is the first physical Assembly since the start of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic which invariable marked the new confidence in us and to resume our work fully after learning vital lessons.
He said the World Health Assembly is the highest Health body of experts and professionals charge with the responsibility of policy formulation, decisions, and advice on Health related matters for Humanity. Its headquarters is in Geneva, Switzerland and members meets annually. The last physical meeting by member countries was held in 2019.
The minister reiterated the fact that despite all odds and challenges, the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is committed to achieving remarkably in the area of Public Health.
