Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd) has emerge as the Taraba governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Announcing the results, the Chief Returning Officer of the electoral committee, Kabiru Nappa Jauro said:
“Base on the powers bestowed on me, I hereby announce the result as follows, Kefas Agbu 443 votes , Prof. Joseph Kunini who polled 31 votes, Prof. Jerome Nyame 24 votes, Sen. Joel Ikenya polled 11 votes while Hilkia Buba-Joda has 6 votes and two invalid votes.
“Total accredited votes – 522, vote cast – 517.
Speaking after his affirmation as the party’s governorship candidate, Lt. Col. Kefas said appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by his fellow contestants.
He appealed to them to join hands with him to ensure PDP emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.
“This has demostrated the need Tarabans have for a leader that would continue from the legacies of Gov. Darius Diskson Ishaku.
He promised to provide Tarabans good dividends of democracy come 2023 if elected.
“I appeal to Tarabans to equally give me their support to win in the general election.
Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku who witnessed the election, commended the delegates for their peaceful conduct, describing it as a family affair.
“The will of God has prevailed, he urged the PDP to work as one family. .
In a similar developent, Gov. Ishaku, Manu Wins PDP Senatorial Primaries.
Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has won peoples Democratic party southern Taraba senatorial primary.
He scored 154 votes to win the primary where he was unopposed.
The primary was conducted peacefully but under tight security at Wukari, headquarters of the zone.
His deputy, Alhaji Haruna Manu, also won Taraba central senatorial primary.
Haruna scored 143 votes to defeat Muhammed Abana who did not score any vote which was conducted at Bali, headquarters of the zone.
The sitting senator representing Taraba Northern senatorial zone in the Senate, Alhaji Shuaibu Isa Lau, also won the primary which was conducted at Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.
Senator Lau scored 193 votes to defeat three other contestants.
The three contestants defeated by Lau were David Kassa who scored 73 votes, Mr Jeji Williams who scored 5 votes and Mr Anfani Bandawa who did not score any vote.
