Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the Yoruba Council Worldwide has pitched its tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Council assured of its unflinching support, owing to the candidate’s ability to deliver on unity, security, and economic and national development.
The Yoruba Council Worldwide in a statement issued on Friday, signed by its President Aare Oladotun Hassan, Esq, lamented the unmitigated insecurity ravaging the nation, particularly the Owo Massacre as well as terrorist attacks, killings by unknown gunmen and kidnappings by Fulani-bandits.
The statement reads in part, “It has been a perilous moment of unmitigated insecurity in Nigeria, and looking at the Owo Massacre, wherein terrorists invaded our land unimpeded just like they did exactly a year before in Igangan Town in Oyo State, while other Southwest states from Ogun, Ekiti, Osun and Ondo are not spared, leaving us to see this as an act of unwarranted provocation capable of snowballing into a grave deadly and dangerous consequences, if continuously treated with kid’s gloves by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The Apex Yoruba interest group; Yoruba Council Worldwide (Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye), is equally inundated with daily news of other victims of terrorist attacks, killings and kidnappings by Fulani-bandits, while the Eastern part of Nigeria is currently drowning by the spiral of gruesome killings by the unknown gunmen with records of deadly attacks and unmitigated killings across the country.
“May all the victim’s souls rest in perfect peace. We therefore demand justice and onward due diligent investigation and prosecution of perpetrators accordingly.”
The apex Yoruba interest group commended all political parties for a job well done. Therefore urging all the presidential candidates to unite and put Nigeria first in the course of their political engagements across the country.
The Council said that having put all candidates and political parties on a scale, considering that the Northern Hausa-Fulani would have served and completed eight years by 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari, it decided to support Tinubu, a thorough-breed and competent Nationalist for the presidency seat.
The council therefore called on Nigerians across all lengths and breadth to throw their full weight on the APC’s presidential candidate. It also called on the “Oodua Nation Agitators” to rethink 2023 general elections harp on the “Yoruba Agenda and National Development” and rally round support and vote massively for its worthy son and dependable Nigerian.
“Having critically considered all Presidential Candidates and their political parties beyond ethnic nor primordial sentiments, that the Northern Hausa-Fulani would have served and completed eight years by 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari. These are no times for any ethnic bigots and political opportunists to take advantage of our precarious situation, we therefore settle for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, being a thorough-breed experienced Nationalist and Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as our next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023, based on his uncommon intellectual acumen and eagle eyes to pick the best cabinet ministers and parastatal heads from all geopolitical sections of the country, without an iota of political, ethnicity, religious vengeance and biased sentiments to progressively serve and drive the nation forward.
