2027: Group Rallies Grassroots Support For Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

The Group grassroots support continuity project (TGSC) has called for increased grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across all geopolitical zones to ensure his successful re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the group’s first national summit held in Abuja yesterday, the National Vice Chairman TGSC Dr Gambo Bala Iggi, stated that President Tinubu has, since assuming office, embarked on a transformative agenda aimed at uplifting vulnerable groups—including women, youths, and persons with disabilities—across the country.

Delivering a keynote presentation titled TGSC “Project 2027: Mean Goal and Mission The Pilot Project,” Iggi outlined the President’s vision in tackling poverty and unemployment, particularly among vulnerable populations nationwide.

He described President Tinubu’s administration as “a divine mandate to rebuild the country,” highlighting efforts already made in empowering the poor and marginalized.

“The President has disbursed ₦6.7 trillion to over 150,000 beneficiaries to support small businesses in local communities across the country, addressing critical issues of poverty,” he said.

He added that the government is targeting 75,000 Nigerians—including women, youths, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and persons with disabilities—to benefit from upcoming presidential empowerment initiatives.

Among the sectors of focus are micro-enterprises, including food production and processing such as rice, beans, and other staple goods.

Dr Iggi lamented the lack of recognition and support for informal traders, using the example of local akara (bean cake) sellers:

“Today, an akara seller operates her business at her own risk. She is not recognized by her local government, the federal government, or any financial institution. She cannot access loans or support because she lacks formal registration or certification,” he said.

He announce that discussions are ongoing with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to simplify business registration for small-scale women entrepreneurs. The proposal includes creating a new category of business registration that would cost only ₦500, enabling informal businesswomen to legalize their operations and become eligible for loans, grants, and federal recognition.

“We want a system where the akara seller can register her business for just ₦500 and be treated with the same respect and access as a limited liability company,” he said.

He called on state coordinators, grassroots representatives, and party leaders to begin identifying beneficiaries for a pilot empowerment program, which will roll out shortly.

“In this pilot phase, we aim to empower 100 women in each local government area of selected states,” he announced.
“We are asking local government and state officials to nominate 10 women from each ward. These women will receive business starter kits worth ₦50,000 to ₦100,000 each.”

He concluded by emphasizing the strategic goal: empowering grassroots women to become financially independent, contribute to local economies, and serve as ambassadors of the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 elections.

“If we empower them, they’ll not only be successful they will also pray for Mr. President,” he added.

On his part, National Secretary of the Tinubu Grassroots Support for Continuity (TGSC), Dr. Agnes Hossana Ajibade, called on citizens to reflect on the significance of Tinubu’s leadership and decide whether to remain indifferent, undermine it, or commit to Nigeria’s transformation.

“This is not about being in APC. The reality is that this man is meant for this assignment. Nigeria is in a mess and President Tinubu is the mechanic fixing the nation. We need to support him with the right tools so that the vehicle of Nigeria can move faster,” she said.

Ajibade also recalled the political journey of the president, noting that the late senator who conferred the Jagaban title on Tinubu had predicted it would lead him to the presidency and the responsibility of rebuilding Nigeria.

“Jagaban saw when Nigeria was being destroyed. He is not lying to us. He wants to do the right thing because he wants to leave a name. Let us support him,” she added.

In his remarks, Dr. Afolabi Tanjudeen, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement and National Coordinator of TGSC, praised Tinubu’s track record, citing his achievements as Lagos governor despite financial challenges, as well as his vision-driven approach to governance.

“He is like a lion that sets his target and achieves it. He has a blueprint that has guided successive administrations, and now he is determined to lift Nigeria out of suffering,” Tanjudeen said.

The gathering also highlighted recent government interventions to reduce food prices and empower farmers through the distribution of agricultural equipment. Supporters pointed to signs of declining food costs as evidence that the president’s policies were beginning to yield results.

“The second term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is non-negotiable. Our task is to take this message back to our communities, to the women, the youth, and the grassroots. We must preach empowerment and progress,” Tanjudeen declared.

The event concluded with renewed pledges of loyalty and prayers for the president’s success, with participants stressing that international recognition and confidence in Nigeria were rising under his leadership.
