Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has challenged President Bola Tinubu to account for his stewardship.
Mr Obi asked Mr Tinubu to state how many Nigerians his administration has pulled out of poverty and hunger as Nigeria ranks among the most terrorised countries in the world.
In a post on X, the former Anambra governor told the president to account for how well the country has been secured under his watch.
“Mr President, Nigerians deserve answers. They deserve to know what has been done with the resources entrusted to your government,” Mr Obi said on Saturday.
“Nigerians deserve to know how many were pulled out of poverty within this period, how many out-of-school children were returned to school, and how many functional primary healthcare centres you have built.”
He added, “They deserve an explanation of how you have secured the country, which still ranks among the most terrorised countries in the world.”
Berating Mr Tinubu for spending “over 260 days outside Nigeria since coming into office,” Mr Obi said Nigerians “also deserve to know how much electricity supply has improved, especially given your promise that if you 0ydo not fix power, Nigerians should not vote for you.”
Mr Tinubu, in his campaign rally at Akwa Ibom, had dismissed Mr Obi as a leader who jumps from one party to another and is unable to confront challenges, adding that Mr Obi ran away from the erosion ravaging Anambra State when he was governor.
