IBBN Inaugurates FCT Excos, Vows To Change Nigerian Leadership System

By Progress Godfrey, Abuja

The Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria, IBBN, a socio-political group has vowed to change the leadership system in Nigeria for the better.

Convener of the group, Prophet Isa El-Buba, said this at the inauguration of newly elected FCT executives of the IBBN in Abuja on Thursday.

He said the problem of Nigeria requires a holistic process that involves the people and thus, cannot be solved overnight.

According to him, the group is driven by the need for a change, “and so you should know that for every mandate, there’s always a sacrifice,” he told the executives.

Furthermore, he said, “Nobody can change the story of Nigeria except you and I are part of the change. You realize that democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people.

“We the people will have to be part of the process. God has helped us to come to where we are today and we have seen the successes. We cannot at this point relent in our effort and our sacrifice.

“So I want to encourage you that you cannot solve the problems that will be encountered as a person overnight just because you’ve joined the group. No, we are fighting to change what is going to help to change the story of every Nigerian until we see our leaders become selfless. Until we get to that point, we are far away from deliverance.

“We must also understand that we are a new breed without greed, we are not money-driven. We are driven by a vision that is propelling us to a change. As your leader, I’m making every sacrifice.”

Also speaking, the FCT Coordinator, Dr Emmanuel Afolabi said the IBBN is continuing the mobilisation which it started during the 2023 general election.

He said, “The purpose of this meeting today is to create awareness that IBBN is on ground. We started during the 2023 election, we mobilised the populace and want to continue from where we stopped this time around, and we want to start on time so that when the election comes we won’t be in a rush.

“Yeah, so our focus is on equal Nigeria, the quality of Nigeria that every Nigerian must be seen as a Nigerian. Nobody is more important than the order in position sharing and revenue sharing. Everyone should be treated equally, that’s what we stand for.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, State Advisory Board, Sunday Emeje said, “Nigeria is for us, politician, public servant, civil servant, businessman, Nigeria is for all of us so my advice to politicians is that they shouldn’t use religion or political tribe to divide.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General, Finance and Administration at IBBN, Dr Policap Gankon said the aim is to see that in future, the group produces leaders based on their track record, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

“Our biggest vision is to change the system. To change the narratives, to go for the best. We want IBM at a point in time will sit down and say this is the president of this country based on that person’s pedigree based on that person’s background, based on that person’s ideology, irrespective of whether that person is a Muslim or a Christian, and I want to tell us that IBBN is encompassed with Christians or Muslims together,” Gankon added.
