2024 UTME: CBT Owner Commends JAMB For Hitch-Free Examination

By Ngozi Nwankwo

As the last section of candidates of Ade-ola intl School, Computer Based Test, CBT, Centre took their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, on Thursday, the CBT Centre owner, Mrs Mercy Olaosegbe, has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, for the smooth conduct of examination nationwide.

Mrs Olaosegbe who ranked the conduct of 2024 UTME exercise high since the introduction of Computer Based Test, CBT, also commended JAMB for the huge technical improvement , saying that there was no cases of technical glitches recorded both in capturing and in the use of computer by candidates.

She also lauded some CBT owners who trained their computer operators which assisted JAMB in achieving the feat.

” As JAMB keeps improving I also want to say that, most of the CBT owners did our parts by ensuring that our computer operators undergo necessary training. I can tell you that the training of ICT officials helped JAMB in recording this huge success,” she said.

The CBT Centre owner, therefore, called on the other CBT center owners to key into the training for more better results.

Olaosegbe also thanked parents for heeding JAMB warning, saying there was no disruption from the parents and those who brought their children stayed far from the center.

It would be recalled that JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had directed all Computer-Based Test,CBT, centre owners to arrest any parent, who is found near any of their facilities during the 2024 UTME exercise.

The directive was issued at the final briefing of the Computer-Based Test,CBT, centre owners, which was held virtually yesterday.

Oloyede said the directive became necessary following the intrusive disposition of some parents during the Board’s previous exercises.

JAMB Registrar explained that the measure was necessary as it has been discovered over time that many of these intruding parents are facilitators of examination infractions while others have, by their actions, disrupted the Board’s examinations in the past.

He said that some miscreants also disguise as parents to infiltrate the centres to perpetrate all forms of infractions.

Speaking also, Proctor FCT, Mr Paul Nwabueze Lauded JAMB for hitch-free examination, saying the system was programmed in a such a way that gave no room for exam malpractice.

Nwabueze, however, said though JAMB has improved massively, there were other areas to improve

Though the Proctor did not categorically mention the areas, he said his expectations were to see JAMB compete globally as one of the best tops examination body.

Meanwhile, some candidates interviewed confirmed there was no technical glitches and there two hours timing was perfectly utilized.
