The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) has announced plans to relocate mechanics and traders operating on road corridors and buffer zones to Wassa, a move approved by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
According to AMMC Coordinator, Felix Obuah, the relocation is scheduled to begin in a month’s time. “We have decided to relocate all the traders on the road corridor, the buffers, and right of ways to Wassa any moment from now, and they are all happy,” Obuah stated.
The relocation affects various businesses, including mechanics, spare parts dealers, furniture makers, and roadside cooking gas dealers. Obuah emphasized that the minister has given a matching order, which will be carried out judiciously without compromise.
“We will do it to the satisfaction of everybody,” Obuah assured, adding that a taskforce and technical team have been set up to oversee the relocation process.
This development aims to restore order and sanity to the city’s roads and buffer zones, and the affected traders and mechanics have been informed of the impending relocation.
