Leader of the opposition People Democratic Party PDP in Cross River state, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has sued for unity, cohesion, and personal sacrifices from members to rejuvenate the party for a better outing in the future.
The federal lawmaker who is also the Senator representing Cross River North in the Senate made the call in Calabar during the PDP Stakeholders meeting held at Metropolitan Hotel in Calabar
According to Jarigbe; “I want to commend our party faithful for their passion, enthusiasm, and determination to keep the flame aglow despite the current scenarios.
“Thank you for your steadfastness. Thank you for not thinking through the stomach like some who have left. Your courage demonstrates strong faith for a better tomorrow. By God’s grace, PDP will bounce back in Cross River state. We have the framework and antecedents’
In his remarks, the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Sandy Onor urged party loyalists to remain optimistic, assuring that a bright future is possible.
He posited that “We stumbled, but we shall rise again. PDP remains the hope of the state. Tomorrow is greater than yesterday. With the zeal and excitement prevalent in our party, with God on our side, we shall take over again”
Speaking, the state chairman of the party, Venatius Ikem Esq said the meeting was convened to afford critical stakeholders ample avenue to explore the way forward for the party, attributing the performance of the party in the last election to internal wrangles and disunity.
Ikem posited “No doubt the meeting is belated, but it’s better late than never. One year after losing the election, we have decided to come together as one united family and plot the way forward”
“We share the collective blame and we also share the collective challenge of how to move the party forward”
He expressed dismay over the defection of members to the ruling party and implored stakeholders to step up interactions to galvanize members toward addressing emerging challenges
