Aminu Rabiu, a businessman and the seventh prosecution witness in the trial of Ali Bello and Dauda Sulaiman, has testified that he received over N1 billion from various individuals for the renovation of Ali Bello’s houses.
“I received money for the renovation of Ali Bello’s houses from various people in cash instalments totaling more than N1,000,000,000,” Rabiu said.
When asked who the properties belonged to, Rabiu replied, “Yahaya Bello.”
He also stated that he renovated several houses for Bello, including the one at No 9 Benghazi Street, Abuja, for which he was paid around N300 million in cash instalments.
Rabiu further testified that he received additional payments for other renovation works, including N200 million for the house in Jabi, N200 million for the house in Life Camp, and N500 million for the house in Okene, Kogi State.
The witness also informed the court that he operated a bank account with Zenith Bank, through which he received payments for his company, Falala Construction and Interior Decoration Company, Abuja.
The trial has been adjourned to July 16, 2024, for continuation.
