In the heart of Abuja, Nigeria, a beacon of cultural exchange and understanding shines bright, thanks to the tireless efforts of Mr. Li Xuda, the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and Director of the China Cultural Centre Abuja.

Since his arrival in Nigeria in 2017, Mr. Li has been dedicated to bridging the cultural divide between China and Nigeria, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding between the two nations.

Through a plethora of cultural events, exchange programs, and initiatives, Mr. Li has successfully promoted Chinese culture in Nigeria, while also embracing and celebrating Nigerian heritage. His endeavors have not only strengthened the bond between the two nations but have also created a platform for cultural diplomacy, education, and cooperation.

One of Mr. Li’s most notable achievements has been to reposition and add vibes to the activities at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja. Under Mr. Li’s leadership, this iconic center has become a hub for cultural exchange, hosting a wide range of activities, including art exhibitions, music and dance performances, language classes, and cultural festivals.

The centre has provided a unique opportunity for Nigerians to experience Chinese culture firsthand, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of the country’s rich heritage.

To underscore the importance China attaches to Nigeria as the giant of Africa, China Cultural Center in Nigeria was established on March 2, 2012, based on the agreement signed by both countries, and opened on Sept 9, 2013. Located in the capital Abuja, the center is the second of its kind established in sub-Saharan Africa, and is the 14th overseas cultural center established by China’s government.

Under Mr. Li’s guidance, the China Cultural Centre has also launched various exchange programs, providing opportunities for Nigerian artists, musicians, and writers to travel to China and experience the country’s vibrant culture.

Similarly, Chinese artists have been invited to Nigeria, allowing them to immerse themselves in the country’s diverse cultural landscape. These exchanges have not only enriched the participants but have also led to the creation of innovative and collaborative works of art.

Mr. Li’s commitment to cultural exchange has also led to the development of language programs, aimed at promoting the learning of Chinese and Nigerian languages. The Confucius Institute, established at the University of Abuja, has become a premier institution for language learning, offering courses in Mandarin Chinese and Nigerian languages such as Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. This initiative has not only enhanced language skills but has also facilitated greater communication and cooperation between the two nations.

In addition to his work in cultural exchange, Mr. Li has also been instrumental in promoting cultural diplomacy. He has worked closely with Nigerian government officials, cultural institutions, and civil society organizations to promote mutual understanding and cooperation. His efforts have led to the signing of several cultural agreements and memoranda of understanding, solidifying the cultural partnership between China and Nigeria.

Mr. Li’s exploits have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to cultural exchange and diplomacy. His dedication and passion for cultural exchange have inspired a new generation of young Nigerians and Chinese to embrace each other’s cultures and work towards a more harmonious and interconnected world.

In conclusion, Mr. Li Xuda’s tireless efforts have bridged the cultural divide between China and Nigeria, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation between the two nations. His work has demonstrated the power of cultural exchange in building stronger diplomatic relations, promoting education, and enhancing cooperation.

As a champion of cultural diplomacy, Mr. Li Xuda has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of both China and Nigeria, inspiring future generations to embrace the richness and diversity of each other’s cultures.

His legacy continues to inspire and motivate people from both countries to explore each other’s cultures, traditions, and values, creating a brighter future for the China-Nigeria win-win cooperation and shared prosperity.
