FERMA Executes 286 Projects In 12 Months

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, says courtesy of its pragmatic leadership under the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, it has completed 286 road fixing projects across the six geopolitical zones from August 2023 to date in line with the aspirations of Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A statement issued Thursday by the FERMA’s Director, Information and Public Relations, Mrs Maryam Sanusi, said the agency implemented various strategic initiatives for the effective monitoring and maintenance of federal roads nationwide to achieve to feat.

“Under the leadership of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, FERMA has completed 286 capital, recurrent, and direct labour projects across the six geopolitical zones, between August 2023 to date,” the statement partly read.

It goes further to say that approximately 22,800 direct and indirect jobs were created courtesy of the projects and may have accordingly improved the quality of lives of the benefiting youths along the abutting road corridors and communities where the Agency worked.

Expressing the agency’s commitment to motorable roads throughout country, the MD, Engr Agbasi, was quoted to have said, “Our primary goal is to maintain and improve the quality of federal roads across Nigeria, thereby contributing to national development and economic growth.

“We are dedicated to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by delivering on our mandate effectively and transparently.”

The sope of works done ranges from patching of potholes to ensure smoother and safer driving experiences to pavement strengthening to extend their lifespan and improve their load-bearing capacity; repairing of failed sections of roads that have deteriorated; construction of bridges and culvert to enhance connectivity and prevent flooding among others.

“We urge all Nigerians to be patient and support the present administration’s efforts in the road sector for development,” FERMA advised.
