In a significant development, a team of 23 Russian engineers from the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel Company (TPE) arrived on Monday, August 12, 2024, to conduct a physical equipment audit of the largest steel company in Africa.
The team, led by experts from Russia, is working closely with local engineers to assess the current state of the equipment and facilities at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL). The audit is a crucial step towards the completion of the company, which has been in limbo for several decades.
According to sources, the Russian team has already visited several units, including the thermal power plant, light mills section, and oxygen plant, among others. The audit is expected to identify areas where analog equipment needs to be replaced with digital ones for more effective operations.
