Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has sold his last remaining home, a stunning 16,000-square-foot mansion in the San Francisco Bay Area, for a whopping $32 million. The sale marks a significant milestone for Musk, who has been vocal about his desire to simplify his life and focus on his ambitious goals in space exploration and sustainable energy.
In June 2021, Musk announced on Twitter that he was selling his last house, saying he wanted the “special place” to go to a large family who will reside there. “I’m excited to see who the new owner will be,” Musk said in a statement. “I hope it will be a family who will enjoy the space and make many happy memories.”
The property, one of the largest lots in Silicon Valley, boasts seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and a sprawling garden. It was originally listed for $37.5 million but was later reduced to $31.99 million. The mansion has been rented out for events and features a sculpture of a rocket and a white Japanese sword or Katana.
Musk’s decision to sell his last home comes as no surprise, as he has been known to live a humble lifestyle. His biographer, Walter Isaacson, recently tweeted a picture of Musk’s “spartan two-bedroom house” where he would often meet with Musk. “It’s a very simple and uncluttered space,” Isaacson said. “Elon would sit at the wooden table and take phone calls. He didn’t need much else.”

Musk’s choice to downsize has raised eyebrows, but Isaacson says it’s consistent with Musk’s values. “Elon has always been focused on his work and his vision for the future,” Isaacson said. “He doesn’t need a lot of material possessions to be happy.”
The identity of the buyer remains undisclosed, but Musk is hopeful that the new owner will enjoy the property as much as he did. “I’m glad it’s going to a good home,” Musk said.
Musk’s sale of his last home comes as he prepares for the release of his biographer’s book, which promises to reveal more about his personal life and motivations. Isaacson’s biography, set to be released on September 12, is already generating buzz, with many eager to learn more about the enigmatic billionaire
