Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has emphasized that education has no age limit, encouraging individuals to pursue knowledge regardless of their status. Represented by Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, at the graduation and certification of non-formal education learners, the Governor commended the learners for their patience and endurance.
“Education has no age limit, irrespective of your status, you can study,” Dr. Kefas stated, highlighting the administration’s commitment to prioritizing education in the state.
The Governor also announced plans to open literacy centers in all correctional facilities across the state and integrate skills acquisition into all literacy centers. “Let everybody take the challenge of making just one illiterate person literate; this will drastically reduce the illiteracy rate we believe,” he added.
Acting Executive Secretary of Taraba State Mass Education Board, Hamidu Usman Leme, revealed that the Board has collaborated with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to train over 77,000 learners under the BESDA program in 2021 and 2022. He appreciated the Governor’s declaration of free education in the state and acknowledged partnerships with organizations like Value Chain Development Program (VCDP) to empower adult learners.
