Gufwan made this commitment while receiving the Ambassador in his office recently in Abuja.

Addressing the delegation, the ES congratulated Dr. Nwanorom for putting the country in the spotlight among worthy Ambassadors of disabilities in the globe.

“We are proud of your achievements and wealth of experience, and strongly believe that it will be replicated at the global stage”, he added.

Gufwan also reiterated the enormous human capacity embedded in the population of over 35 million Nigerians with Disabilities making impacts in their various spheres.

The Commission’s Boss, therefore, expressed readiness to partner with the ambassador in order to position Nigeria as the true giant of Africa.

Earlier in his speech, the Nigerian representative on disabilities at the United Nations, Dr. Chris Nwanorom congratulated the ES on his appointment and equally stated his willingness to partner with the Commission to foster the overall interest of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

He underpinned the tenets of the United Nations on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) as a body centered on the protection of the rights of Persons with disabilities across the globe. He described the organization as one that consists of experts carefully selected from different countries of the world to make impacts.

“At the UN, we believe in partnership because coming together, makes us achieve greater productivity” he said.

Nwanorom further highlighted that the UN is concerned about application of technology for persons with disabilities by 2025.

He also informed that the delegation is anticipating the peculiar concerns at the Commission to be tabled at the United Nation’s conference for further action.

According to him, the UN is expecting the nomination from the NCPWD to form the Technical Working Group that will interface with the Commission and other Organizations of Persons with disabilities (OPDs) periodically.

He further sought the cooperation of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities to champion a world press conference on the various concerns of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.
