Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale has made a surprise exit in government service by announcing his indefinite leave of absence to attend to pressing medical matters affecting his immediate family.
In a statement released on Friday, Ngelale revealed that he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, informing his office of his decision to step aside and focus on his family’s health challenges.
“After significant consultations with my family over the past several days, I have taken the agonizing decision to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence… as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale stated.
He expressed his appreciation for the demands of national service, acknowledging that “the ship of state waits for no man.” However, he emphasized the need to prioritize his family’s well-being during this critical period.
Ngelale, who also serves as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, expressed his hope to return to full-time national service when circumstances permit.
