The Mzough u Tiv, United Kingdom (MUTUK) chapter has hosted a celebration of Tiv culture, marking the 2024 Tiv Day Annual Conference and Cultural Festival. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the rich heritage and resilience of the Tiv people.
The event took place on Sunday, September 15, 2024 with Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Iornem Alia and Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Begha U Tiv, Orchivirigh, Prof Ortese Iorzua James Ayatse in attendance.
Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Iornem Alia, expressed his admiration for the Tiv community in the UK, stating, “I am immensely proud of the Tiv community in the UK for their dedication to keeping our culture alive, even while far from home.”
He emphasised that the MUTUK Tiv Day is more than just an annual festival, but a celebration of the Tiv people’s identity and resilience.
The festival was a colorful display of Tiv culture, with attendees showcasing their identity, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Tiv community.
Governor Alia commended the organisers, saying, “Thank you, MUTUK, for this wonderful celebration. May the Tiv spirit continue to thrive across the globe!”
The event brought together people from diverse backgrounds to share in the joy and pride of Tiv culture, demonstrating the power of community and cultural heritage.
As Governor Alia aptly put it, “The Tiv spirit is alive and well, and it’s heartening to see it flourishing even outside of Nigeria.”
