Edo state governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Hon. Denis Idahosa have received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The National Commissioner, Mrs Rhoda Gomos, on behalf of the INEC Chairman,
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu presented the certificates to the Edo governor- elect.
They were accompanied to the INEC headquarters by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Secretary, Senator Bashiru Ajibola, and Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and the Deputy Governor of Edo state, Phillip Shuaibu among others.
Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was declared the winner of the tightly contested Edo governorship election on Sunday.
The Returning Officer for the election and the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruq Kuta, announced the result at the INEC collation centre in Benin City.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, winning 11 out of the 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
