Addressing the delegation, the ES opined that his desire is to institute a zero tolerance approach against corruption in all matters relating to Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

“Corrupt practices deter progress, goals and objectives of every establishment, and that’s why we will make sure that we are prudent with the resources made available to the Commission” he stressed.

Gufwan further encourages Staff of the Commission to be steadfast and remain focused in order to achieve the set targets and goals that will further enhance an inclusive policies in Disability Community.

“Given that the number of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria is rather increasing than decreasing, and to facilitate an all inclusive resort, I promise to utilise all available resources to impact the lives of Persons with Disabilities in our society” the ES further stated.

Earlier in the meeting, the team leader from ROLAC, Mr Danladi Prang stated that the reason for their visit was to renew their support to the Commission and to lend a hand in improving access to justice for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

Prang also reiterated the roles and parts played by ROLAC during the advocacy to establish the Act against the discriminations of Persons with disabilities in Nigeria which was obtained in 2018 and the subsequent establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities

He further disclosed that part of ROLAC’s term of office is to run a background advocacy and sensitization in regards to the disability Community, which is not restricted to the national level alone but, across the States and the local governments.

Prang further added that ROLAC is ready to partner with the Commission in the commemoration of this year’s International Day for Persons With Disabilities coming up on the 3rd of December.

The highlight of the event was the handing over of the 6 points Agenda of the Commission to ROLAC by the Executive Secretary.

ROLAC is a programme of the British council which is funded by the European Union whose duty is to strengthen the application of the rule of law and to curb corruption.
