Anambra State Police Command has on Thursday confirmed the rescue of six sports journalists who were kidnapped by suspected hoodlums in the Isseke community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the journalists, were en route to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to cover Nigeria vs Libya African Cup of Nations qualifying match, when abducted on Wednesday travelling through the Isseke-Orlu Road.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said joint security forces had successfully freed six of the journalists, while efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the seventh member of the crew.
“Joint security forces have rescued six members of the media crew who were abducted while travelling from Lagos to Uyo,” the spokesperson said.
Ikeng, therefore, assured all that operations are still ongoing to rescue the last journalist and bring the perpetrators to justice.
