Ayuba, however, decried the low compliance rate by some officials of government who do not give priority to reasonable accommodations in the recruitment processes.

The ES further underpinned that many persons with disabilities possess the qualifications but are unidentified in remote areas.

“I also want to emphasize that most talented young Persons With Disabilities have the requisite knowledge and qualifications to be employed in the Federal Civil Service but cannot be traced due to poor infrastructural networks at the grassroots” he said.

He further promised that the Commission will soon commence data gathering of all clusters of disabilities to ascertain the actual status of the members.

However, the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa who was pleased to receive the delegation from NCPWD commended the ES and staff for working tirelessly in handling cases of Persons with disabilities.

In addition, Olaopa mentioned that the Federal Ministry of Education has actually exceeded the 5% quota to 6% and this can be replicated in other MDAs.

He further promised to partner with NCPWD, to establish desk officers at the FCSC for ease of communication.

The high point of the meeting was the presentation of the 6 points agenda of NCPWD to the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission by the ES.
