Shettima Unveils Nasarawa Human Capital, Gender Transformative

 

Vice President Kashim Shettima has unveiled the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Agency Strategy Document and Gender Transformative Policy Framework with a call for investment in the skills and knowledge development of Nigerians, especially the youth.

The documents which are the brain child of the state’s Human Capital Development Agency, is aimed at improving the welfare and means of livelihoods as well as equity for both male and female in the state.

Nasarawa is the first state the vice president, who is also the chairman of the National Human Capital Development Agenda, would be performing an official engagement on the matter.

Shettima expressed optimism that the progress envisaged in human capital development is achievable with shared commitment and collaboration by all.

He noted that the federal government is not only committed to ensuring that youths acquire employable skills, but also ready to empower them to export those skills globally, in order for them to be able to compete at the highest levels of the international markets.

“These are not mere goals. They are the promises embedded in our Human Capital Development Programme,” he said.

He commended Nasarawa State for not only taking the lead in the implementation of human capital development agenda but for the success so far recorded.

“Today’s launch of the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Strategy Document and Gender Transformative Policy Framework is evidence of Nasarawa State’s leadership and vision under His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule the Executive Governor of the state.

“Nasarawa State’s entry at this pivotal stage is a promising sign of progress. However, let me emphasise this. No government can or should function in isolation. The progress we have made in the HCD programme has only been possible because of our shared commitment to collaboration and partnership,” he said.

Also speaking, Governor Abdullahi Sule, said the documents launched represent the commitment of government to delivering measurable and sustainable results in human capital development through a system that works for the people.

Sule promised to implement the policies in the documents to prioritise skill growth and accelerate education, healthcare, infrastructure, gender inclusion by 2030. PUNCH
