C’River: PDP Tasks CROSIEC On Credible LG Polls

The People Democratic Party, PDP has urged the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC to ensure every vote counts during Saturday’s Local government elections in the state by upholding a free, fair and transparent process.
State Chairman of the PDP,Vena Ikem Esq gave the charge while addressing party faithful on Thursday at a rally to kickstart campagns ahead the forthcoming election slated for tomorrow.
Flagging off the event at Ogoja for the party’s standard bearers frombvvvthe northern and central senatorial districts, the chairman be inof the party, Barr. Venatius Ikem enjoined the candidates to regard the party’s mandate as sacrosanct and non negotiable.
He advised against mortgaging the mandate of the party after their election and regretted that some unstable politicians had in the past absconded to other parties after the election.
Vena solicited total support for the party’s candidates in Saturday’s local government election adding that “every vote will count.”
He expressed dismay over the harsh economic policies of the ruling party, which he noted have brought pain and anguish to the citizens, calling on the electorate to reject the APC during Saturday’s LG polls because of their people’s policies.
On his part, the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency, Hon Godwin Ofiono, assured the teeming crowd that modalities would be put in place to guide against electoral malpractice.
The MP observed that the local government election is people’s oriented, pointing out that Cross River North and the entire state is a PDstrongholdld.
He warned against violence during the election and appealed for a level playing ground.
Flags were presented to the party’s candidates from the eleven local government areas of Cross River North and central senatorial districts.
