In a significant boost to its military capabilities, Israel has signed a massive $5.2 billion deal with Boeing to purchase 25 advanced F-15IA fighter jets.Â
This major acquisition is part of a broader package of US aid approved by the US administration and Congress earlier this year, which also includes an option for 25 additional aircraft.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the new F-15IA aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge weapon systems, including state-of-the-art Israeli technologies integrated into the planes.
These upgrades will provide the fighter jets with enhanced range capabilities, increased payload capacity, and improved performance across various operational scenarios.
The F-15IA fighter jets boast an impressive flight range of approximately 12,000 nautical miles and can carry more than 13,000 kg of missiles and bombs.
Additionally, they will feature advanced systems such as AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar, a missile warning system, digital cockpit, and helmet display.
“This F-15 squadron, alongside the third F-35 squadron procured earlier this year, represents a historic enhancement of our air power and strategic reach – capabilities that proved crucial during the current war,” said Eyal Zamir, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.Â
“These advanced fighter jets will significantly strengthen our military’s capabilities and contribute to the security of Israel.”
The delivery of the F-15 aircraft is set to begin in 2031, with 4-6 aircraft to be supplied annually. This procurement marks a significant milestone in deepening defense cooperation between Israel and the United States, reflecting their mutual commitment to regional security.
The deal is seen as a strategic move to enhance Israel’s military superiority in the region, enabling the country to maintain its qualitative edge. The advanced F-15IA fighter jets will join Israel’s existing fleet of F-35s, further solidifying the country’s air dominance.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated that the acquisition is a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between Israel and the US, highlighting the continued support and cooperation between the two nations. The deal is expected to have a significant impact on Israel’s national security and its ability to address emerging threats in the region.
