Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is set to host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a state visit on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
Modi’s visit, announced in a statement by Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, will be the first by an Indian prime minister since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s trip in 2007, which led to the establishment of a strategic partnership.
The Indian leader is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday, ahead of talks with Tinubu aimed at enhancing cooperation in key sectors.
The discussions will culminate in the exchange of signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) designed to bolster collaboration.
This visit underscores the growing ties between Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, and India, the world’s most populous nation, as both leaders seek to deepen their longstanding partnership.
