“I Have No Aspirations Beyond Serving My Principal”, Kogi Deputy Gov Tells Christian Leaders”

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, unequivocally stated that his sole focus is on serving his principal, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and ensuring the successful implementation of the Advance New Direction Agenda.

During a meeting with the leadership of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN) at his office in Lokoja on Tuesday, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu emphasized his unwavering commitment to supporting the current administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in achieving its goals. He firmly believes that any other political ambition would only serve as a distraction from this crucial mission.

While acknowledging the value of ambition, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu cautioned against excessive ambition, which can lead to a loss of direction and focus due to greed and overzealousness.

He lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his significant achievements in enhancing security in Bagana Community of Omala Local Government Area and other areas in the state, as well as the extensive infrastructure development across the three senatorial districts. Furthermore, he highlighted the recent assessment of the deteriorated Ibaji road for rehabilitation, civil service reforms, implementation of the 72,500 minimum wage, and the consistent payment of salaries and pensions. He also mentioned the provision of periodic palliatives to alleviate the impact of harsh economic conditions.Deputy Governor Joel Salifu emphasized that the current administration aims to build upon the progress initiated by former Governor Yahaya Bello and ensure the welfare of the people. He revealed that the former Governor had graciously provided a comprehensive white paper template to guide the current government in its operations.

Expressing gratitude to the visiting leaders, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu urged them to encourage the populace to move away from tribal politics and continue supporting Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in serving the public effectively.

In his address, the General Overseer of CEFN Incorporated, REV. Dr. Malachi O Ogakwo, explained that their visit was a gesture of respect to the Deputy Governor, who hails from the same zone. Despite the challenging global economic conditions in which the administration’s came on board, he commended the government for successfully navigating through the difficulties to improve the state’s overall condition.

He praised the Governor for swiftly addressing insecurity in Omala Local Government Area and ensuring the full implementation of the 72,500 minimum wage for workers.Assuring continued collaboration, he pledged the church’s support in promoting peaceful coexistence, combating poverty and unemployment, and fostering growth in education and agriculture within the state.

He concluded by offering prayers for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Joel Salifu, to have the wisdom and dedication to accomplish the enomors task of taking the state to greater heights.
