Zacharias Led Members of Safety Standard and Regulations Committee to National Judicial Institute
The Member representing Idah Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, Hon. Zacharias, led members of his committee on a significant spot assessment visit to the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja.
The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate the infrastructure, facilities, and overall operational capacity of the NJI, which serves as a critical institution for the continued professional development of judicial officers and stakeholders in the justice sector.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by Mr. Abdulaziz Tolumu, the Secretary of the NJI, who stood in for the Administrator. He welcomed the members and provided an overview of the institute’s activities, accomplishments, and ongoing projects. Following this, Mr. Tolumu conducted a detailed tour of the NJI facilities, guiding the committee members through key areas, including lecture halls, libraries, motels, residential quarters, and other operational infrastructures.
During the inspection, Hon. Zacharias and his team carefully examined the state of the facilities, focusing on their adequacy, safety compliance, and relevance to the NJI’s mandate. The tour also provided an opportunity for the committee to engage directly with the institute’s management and staff. These discussions offered valuable insights into the operational challenges faced by the NJI, including funding constraints, maintenance issues, and the need for technological upgrades to enhance service delivery.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Zacharias emphasized the importance of a well-equipped and efficient NJI in supporting the judiciary, which plays a fundamental role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice across Nigeria.
He noted that the judiciary’s effectiveness is closely tied to the continuous education and professional development of its officers, making the NJI’s capacity and functionality a national priority.
