Internal Party Wrangling: PDP Chieftain Demands Wabara Resignation

A Chieftain of the leading opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Daboikiabo Warmate has said the gathering of some members of Board Trustees of the party cannot be regarded as BoT meeting as it doesn’t satisfy the requirements of the party constitution.

Citing the section section 32 sub(11) of the constitution of the party, Warmate said for BoT meeting to hold water, two third of members must be in attendance.

He said BoT consist of 126 members drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

According to him as at today, PDP Board of Trustees has only 108 members which bring the two third members require for such meeting to 72. But only 36 members attended the last purported BoT meeting held recently which make whatever decision taken null and void as the numbers were not enough to form a quorum.

Mr. Warmate said it’s surprising that the BoT chairman, senator has suddenly found his voice that he lost in 2022 when they was a complete breach of the party constitution for the party presidential candidate to come from the north after another northerner have spent eight years in power.

‘BoT chairman, senator wabara should resign outrightly, members of the party has lost confidence in his leadership. He is playing the ruling party script by taking the internal affairs of the party to the public. He needs to quit to allow the party chart a new cause and direction ahead of 2027 election” he stressed.

He urged the former governor of river state and the minister of the FCT, Nyesome Wike not grant senator wabara led Board of Trustees audience as that will confirm that he has taken side with people trying to destroy the party whose action are inconsistent with PDP constitution.

“According to section 58 sub-section 1 (h) of the party constitution, the board of trustees chairman has committed an offense punishable by suspension or expulsion” Warmate said.

He said it’s wrong for Senator wabara to call on the north central to produce the replacement for Ayu when Ambassador Damagun, the highest ranking officer of the party from the north is inline with the PDP constitution running the affairs of the party.
