REPORTS OF STAMPEDE HALT WURAOLA GOLD FOUNDATION’S END-OF-YEAR PUBLIC OUTREACH—A PROMISE TO MAKE AMENDS IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2025

Volunteer Abdulmalik Hadi-Dankogi extends the Foundation’s Yuletide greetings to Nigerians on behalf of the Founder/President, Queen Alfa Wuraola Gold (Mrs).

Despite our nation’s diversity—reflected in the varied creeds and cultures within our team at Wuraola Gold Foundation—Christmas, commemorating the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, has long been a widely shared and celebrated occasion. It is a time that transcends religious boundaries and serves as a unifying moment for people of diverse backgrounds. In line with this shared understanding, and at the behest of our Founder and President, I am pleased to extend warm season’s greetings to all Nigerians. On a broader scale, we also felicitate with people worldwide who celebrate this special occasion.

As we celebrate, it is essential to remember that the true essence of Christmas lies in reflecting on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. His birth and legacy offer timeless lessons of selflessness, love, forgiveness, and faithfulness—principles that guide us toward a fulfilled and meaningful life.

We fervently pray that the moral values and blessings Jesus Christ brought to humanity will remain with us as we close this year with hope and joy, looking forward to a more prosperous year ahead filled with opportunities to spread love and cheer.

REGRETS OVER CANCELLATION OF END-OF-YEAR OUTREACH

Regrettably, our usual end-of-year public outreach, scheduled for December 25, 2024, was canceled following widespread reports of stampedes in parts of the country during this Yuletide season. After thorough consultations and deliberations with stakeholders, we resolved to prioritize safety above all else.

This year’s program was designed to cater primarily to children, with some provisions for elderly women and people living with disabilities. The event was set to feature a Santa visit to rural communities within the Abuja metropolis, offering children the opportunity to interact with Santa in heart-to-heart discussions aimed at assessing their needs.

The program would also have included dancing and quiz competitions, with prizes awarded to winners, alongside general gift packages containing personal items and food for children.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025

To make up for the canceled outreach, the team is diligently working to implement a revised and expanded plan for 2025. Activities will kick off in the first quarter, incorporating precautionary measures and broader participation from all our catchment areas.

As part of this renewed effort, we are restructuring next year’s programs to accommodate more participants. To achieve this, we will require additional hands and volunteers to help extend our advocacy to more locations across the federation.

OUR ONGOING MISSION

As the Yuletide season continues, we reaffirm our core mission: to empower the underprivileged in society. For over a decade, our focus has remained steadfast on providing support to:

1. Vulnerable Children and Orphans

2. Widows

3. Elderly Women

4. People Living with Disabilities

We remain committed to partnerships that strengthen our mandate and promote initiatives aimed at making the world a better place. Whether through advocacy or the provision of relief materials—be it personal effects or communal resources—we strive to uplift the lives of those most in need.

With Compliments,
Volunteer Abdulmalik Hadi-Dankogi
Director of Administration, Finance, and Public Relations
Wuraola Gold Foundation
