Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have arrested a food vendor, Nura Yakubu, in the Garba Chede community of Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State, for allegedly hosting Boko Haram terrorists deployed to the region for attacks.
In a statement issued by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Yakubu was apprehended following intelligence reports that linked him to harboring terrorists operating in the state.
The army further alleged that Yakubu and his associates were involved in the kidnapping of a businessman named Arinze and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in the Garbatau community.
The army also disclosed that intensified intelligence-driven operations led to the arrest of another suspect, Musa Suito, on December 18, 2024, in Jalingo. Suito, a vigilante, allegedly exploited his position to gather information for kidnappers. Items recovered from him included a Dane gun and two cartridges.
These arrests follow the abduction and subsequent release of a district head in Jalingo Local Government Area on November 27, 2024, after a ransom payment.
The 6 Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to securing lives and property in Taraba State and called on residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to aid the fight against criminal elements.
