The tournament, organized by the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government and State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, aimed to promote unity and sportsmanship across the local government area and beyond.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Jauro, who also serves as ALGON’s National Welfare Officer, commended the players and fans for their enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering peace and harmony.

“This tournament is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering peace and harmony within Jalingo Council,” Dr. Jauro said.

“It bridges divides and unites communities, irrespective of religion, tribe, or political affiliation.”

He further highlighted the tournament’s success in reducing youth restiveness and serving as a platform for talent discovery, urging other stakeholders to emulate similar efforts to strengthen community bonds.

The State Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sani Sulaiman, also lauded the initiative.

“This competition has shown how football can bring people together and create lasting bonds,” he said.

The final marked the culmination of weeks of spirited competition, with youth teams showcasing exceptional athletic talent and a shared commitment to solidarity.

Football supporters expressed hope for the tournament’s continuation as an annual event, emphasizing its potential to inspire Jalingo’s youth and nurture a culture of camaraderie and peace.
