The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has set January 31, 2025, as the deadline for employers to submit their 2024 annual tax returns.
This requirement aligns with the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) as amended.
LIRS has warned that failure to meet the deadline will lead to legal penalties. Employers are required to submit their tax returns through the secure and user-friendly e-Tax portal at https://etax.lirs.net.
To assist employers, LIRS has deployed staff across its offices to provide guidance on using the portal and resolving any issues.
Employers must include the payer ID of all employees in their returns.
Employees without a payer ID are advised to generate one promptly on the platform to avoid delays.
This initiative ensures compliance and supports Lagos State’s fiscal planning efforts.
