Kefas Donates N50 Million For AFR, Pledges Veteran Support

By Emmanuel Awari – Jalingo
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance emblem with a generous donation of N50 million.

The announcement was made during his address at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day event, held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the state capital.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Timothy Gebon Kataps, Governor Kefas commended the selflessness and dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces in securing the nation’s freedom and safety.

He expressed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare, healthcare, and opportunities available to veterans and their families.

“The unwavering dedication of our soldiers has been key in ensuring the freedom we enjoy today,” said the Governor in his speech.

“Our administration will continue to honour their sacrifices by prioritising their well-being and providing them with the necessary support.”

Governor Kefas emphasized that the freedom Nigerians cherish was not easily won, but earned through the sacrifices of military personnel who have worked tirelessly to protect the peace, unity, and sovereignty of the country.

He noted that their legacies would continue to inspire future generations and form a foundation for building a stronger Nigeria.

The Governor also extended his appreciation to the families of fallen heroes, particularly the wives, whom he described as “real heroes deserving of true appreciation.”

He acknowledged the resilience and professionalism of current military officers, commending their role in safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens in Taraba State.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces, the Governor highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting all security agencies with essential resources, including vehicles, communication equipment, and other logistics.

This, he said, enables security agencies to swiftly respond to emerging threats such as kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities.

Governor Kefas reiterated his administration’s dedication to maintaining peace within Taraba State and urged citizens to unite, collaborate with the government, and contribute to building a stronger, more prosperous state and nation.
